Born in Italy and shaped by years of living across different continents before settling in Bangkok, he carries a wide worldview and a restless curiosity. Rather than limiting himself to the traditional canvas, he explores new materials, innovative technologies, design, and the intricate relationships between humans, time, and the world around us.
From Italy to Bangkok: An Artist Who Sees the World Through Art and Science
Born and raised in Modena, Italy, Vernizzi discovered his love for painting early, inspired by his grandfather, who was also an artist. He later trained under Pierluigi Testi before gradually developing his own unique style, before continuing his studies in the UK and the US.
Across more than 40 years in the field, he has never confined himself to painting alone. Instead, he blends art and science in ways that push boundaries: pioneering environmentally conscious 3D color technologies, designing the distinctive glowing aesthetic of his brand Fractalis, and developing nano–based materials for artistic use. These innovations are woven into his current work, where the delicacy of hand-painted details meets the cutting-edge possibilities of nanoscale technology.
Art Between the Old and the New
Vernizzi’s work isn’t about choosing sides between the old world and the tech world. He brings both together on the canvas. The result is work shaped by the artist’s thoughts, experiences, and emotions, mixed with new elements made possible by technology — almost like a spot where the past, present, and future meet.
With a genuine curiosity and understanding of science and technology, he says, “I like technology when it’s designed for collective betterment and ethical purposes, not for brain replacement and alienation.” His art reflects the idea that real feelings and experiences are unique and cannot be replaced.
