As soon as we entered the beautiful Chinese temple, we were ushered into the world of Mahayana Buddhism. The chanting sound and the fragrance of incense wafting through the air acted as a barrier separating the world inside from the outside world. Somehow, the sight of the tall gates and the temple’s entrance, supported by a huge staircase and giant red pillars, soothed our soul. Looking at the giant Buddha and Bodhisattva images, we realized how tiny we and our problems were. Nothing in this world really matters in the holy world above.
