The Kindness That Never Melts

THAILAND – An ice cream vendor, Mr. Prasit Daengsiew, or Brother Noi as everyone calls him, serves not just sweet treats but also generosity. He rides a motorcycle with a sidecar selling ice cream around the district, with a large sign that reads, “Poor children, the elderly, homeless people, and pregnant women: Eat for free.”

For eight years, he has truly honored that sign, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he distributed essential supplies to households throughout the community using funds from his ice cream profits.

Brother Noi shares that his inspiration for doing good comes from His Majesty King Rama IX, who taught Thais the true meaning of giving when he dedicated his life in improving the people’s well-being without expecting anything in return. “Even if I don’t have much left, as long as I can share, I’m happy,” he says.
