
Thailand is pushing hard to become the region’s data centre hub. The Board of Investment has recently approved three projects worth a combined 913.8 billion baht, including an 842.35-billion-baht TikTok project spanning Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Chachoengsao.
The numbers are exciting, but data centers devour electricity and water. Servers run round the clock, generating heat that demands constant cooling, and hot, humid air makes that harder. Rising temperature and humidity, research shows, are making “free cooling”, a system that saves power and water, harder to rely on.
