The Last (Gentle)Man

For car lovers, New Year’s Eve is the time of loss as much as excitement as it is the time to bid farewell to some of much-loved models to pave way for the arrival of their more advanced and faster peers. This year was quite heartbreaking for me as it’s MINI Clubman’s turn, my all-time favorite car. Before we begin, please give me a minute to mourn…

Having made a final decision to continue the production of Countryman and Aceman, which are in the EV category, the MINI team launched MINI Clubman Final Edition to bid adieu to this 54-year-old creation which is one of the most loved oddball cars in the world.

As the name suggests, the Final Edition has only 1,969 units to mark its birth year of 1969 as the legendary, classic, smart, versatile, and sturdy 5-door sports hatchback that can be dubbed “the Gentleman” forever. Only 50 of them came to Thailand.

The Final Edition comes with full options in honor of the “Exceptional Gentleman”, the classic prototype from 1969 and in celebration of the departure. It comes in three classy majestic hues; Nanug White (Nanug means a polar bear in Eskimo language) that will remind you of the fur of polar bear cubs; Melting Silver III and Enigmatic Black which comes with a bright navy blue shimmer

The design and interior accentuates its rarity with editionspecific badges on the sides, door sills, steering wheel, seats and the “Final Edition” lettering on the back of the body.

That’s not all. You will see the ‘1 of 1969’ lettering at the back passenger seat, the console facing the front passenger seat, the door sills or even the floor mats – a reminder that you’re driving the limited edition of the Final Edition!

The trims and lines shading on the exterior come in shimmer copper or matte copper texture, exuding the air of classic luxury which go well with the Piano Black of the front and the back light frames, wing mirrors, door handles, or even the tip of the exhaust pipe.

The car’s panoramic sunroof and the word CLUBMAN on the back, Final Edition Spoke 2’s 18 inches alloy-wheels have the same pattern as that of the Untold Edition. The shimmer copper MINI badge at the center of each wheel was specially designed to be floating so that the MINI lettering is clearly visible even when the car is in motion.

In short, everything about this guy shouts MINI Final Edition!

The interior works focus on Dark Maroon which gives a warm atmosphere and contrasts with the trims of the Sky Blue half-grey upholstery with the neat, luxurious, golden pins providing a perfect ensemble. The Infotainment system comes with the Connected Navigation System package accommodating Apple CarPlay, driver assisting system, and Harman Kardon audio system

The Gentleman, the closing edition of MINI Clubman legacy is 3.29 million baht. Is it worth the purchase? That’s for you to decide. One thing for sure. Seeing and touching it will surely make your emotions run high!
