When A Car Doesn’t Want to be just a Car

You may never have imagined a car that goes beyond all conventional types. Some might think of one thatoffers endless functions or advanced technology something you could spend an entire day in, like a second home. Others might envision a vehicle capable of navigating any terrain, even soaring through the air.

For me, all those thoughts came to a halt the moment I discovered the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed the vehicle that boldly introduced itself not long ago, with no roof and no windshield.

How did they even conceive such an idea?

The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is the first model in the Mythos Series, a line specially designed and produced for collectors — particularly the ultra-wealthy. True to its name, the debut of this series is nothing short of exhilarating. Drawing inspiration from Formula 1, it ditches the roof and front windshield entirely, allowing drivers to feel the full force of the wind as if they’re behind the wheel of F1 monster.

The traditional A-pillar is no longer needed and is replaced by a central Halo structure, made of steel, to protect the driver’s head in the event of a crash a feature introduced in F1 since 2018. Additionally, there are two rigid roll bars positioned behind the seats for extra protection.

And as if that weren’t enough, Mercedes has also developed two specially designed helmets with built-in intercom systems, allowing seamless communication between driver and passenger complete with smartphone connectivity.
